Job Shadowing Experience in Granada, Spain (05.04 – 11.04)
CPIFP Hurtado de Mendoza – A Hub of Innovation and Inspiration
From April 5 to April 11, three teachers and the principal from our school had the exceptional opportunity to participate in a job shadowing experience in Granada, Spain, hosted by the inspiring CPIFP Hurtado de Mendoza. This mobility, organized under the Erasmus+ programme, offered us a rich blend of professional exchange, cultural exploration, and educational inspiration.
Warm Welcome and Professional Exchange
Our first day began with a warm welcome from the staff and students of CPIFP Hurtado de Mendoza. We had an introductory meeting with the principal and a detailed presentation by Borja Torres Villafaina, the Erasmus+ coordinator. His insights into the school’s international projects and commitment to innovation set the tone for an enriching week.
Immersed in Practical Learning
Throughout the week, we took part in various activities that showcased the school’s strong vocational focus:
Practical cooking and serving classes in the school’s state-of-the-art kitchens and labs.
Observation of student practices in real-life hospitality settings, emphasizing professionalism and hands-on learning.
A fascinating lecture on healthy lifestyles, linking nutrition to well-being, delivered at the school.
Exploring Granada – A Cultural and Educational Treasure
Our hosts also ensured we experienced the vibrant cultural heritage of Andalusia. Among the highlights:
A walking tour in the historic part of Granada, exploring narrow cobbled streets and the city's architectural charm.
Visits to the Albaicín district (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the fortress wall, and the Sacromonte Abbey, blending tourism with cultural education.
A powerful lesson on tour guiding and tourism organization, connecting classroom knowledge with real-world application.
Walking in the Footsteps of Federico García Lorca
One of the most touching moments was our literary journey through Granada, walking in the footsteps of Federico García Lorca. His spirit is alive in the streets, poetry, and people of Andalusia.
“La poesía no quiere adeptos, quiere amantes.” – Federico García Lorca
Being here reminded us how literature transcends language and time, connecting generations and cultures.
A Lasting Impact
This job shadowing week has been a model of best practices, cultural immersion, and professional growth. We return inspired by the hospitality, innovation, and warmth of our host school – CPIFP Hurtado de Mendoza – and thankful to all involved in making this mobility an unforgettable experience.
